Virginia woman gets 18 years for killing mother

56422743a6160.imageA nineteen year old woman shot and killed her mother on Black Friday back in 2013.  She told authorities that she planned to kill herself but then thought that her mother would be too upset.  So instead she turned the gun on her bedridden mother and killed her instead.  After the event, she sent her father a text that she had killed her mother.  The father, Donald Hutson, thought she was joking at first until he viewed the photo and realized that his daughter had actually killed his wife.  One of the most disturbing facts from the story is that when Rachel Hutson aimed the gun at her mom she thought she was joking.  The mother said that she would certainly get in trouble as soon as her father got home.  That was definitely an understatement.

The fact that a child could actually kill their parent in cold blood is extremely disturbing on many levels.  This child obviously had psychological issues going on in order to commit such an act.  I know that she stated to the court that she was intending to kill herself which in itself is a serious red flag for depression or mental illness.  She told the judge that she had been feeling depressed for as long as she could remember.  Rachel took care of her 58-year-old bedridden mother for several years.

I find it hard to believe that a person at the age of nineteen doesn’t just develop this kind of thinking out of the blue.  These kinds of feelings and thoughts have to originate from somewhere.  Whether it be genetic or due to her home life was never determined.  Rachel did say that she was depressed but you can’t use that as an excuse to commit first degree murder.  If that were the case than there would be many more murders on a daily basis.  Parents also need to keep an eye on their kids well-being.  I am sure that Rachel showed many signs of depression while caring for her mother.  As a teenager, you should not be expected to be the primary caregiver for your parent.  They are supposed to take care of the child not the other way around.

I do agree that this woman needs to pay for her consequences but imprisoning her isn’t going to fix it.  They need to come up with a way to treat these mentally ill people and try to better them for when they do enter back into society.  This girl is obviously mentally ill and should be getting treatment.  Prison alone will only hide the problem and even make it worse.  I have had dealt with bouts of depression myself and no one can understand the state that your mind is in unless you have been there yourself.  It can sometime be an out-of-body experience that you can only get through by talking with someone or in some cases being prescribed medication.

Mental illness has been an ongoing issue especially in these types of murders and we as a nation need to do more to help those people who struggle with it.  If you ever notice or suspect anyone of havingLogo suicidal thoughts please don’t be afraid to report it. We all as a society should look out for one another and try to help when we can.

Jamie Lee Curtis recreates Psycho scene and shows her Family Values

One of the greatest scenes in horror movie history is the infamous shower scene from Psycho.  Legendary director Alfred Hitchcock made one of the scariest scenes in movie history.  What was one of the amazing things about it was that Hitchcock was able to scare his audience without all the hoopla of special effects.  The scene was in black and white and didn’t display a lot of gore like most movies now do.  If you have never seen it check out the clip below.  Continue reading “Jamie Lee Curtis recreates Psycho scene and shows her Family Values”

School Killing Outbreaks

imagesGGBPTKEO

Over the past couple months pasted across our television screens have been a multitude of school shootings/killings.  Since Columbine, this has been a topic of conversation and we are still dealing with this issue some 20 years later.  Schools have added security guards and metal detectors but still the events have continued.  The latest outbreak was at the University of California where a student attacked another student with a hunting knife.  The attacker, Faisal Mohammad, also stabbed three other students in his rampage.  The numerous items that were found in his belongings were very disturbing.  Mohammad’s backpack contained zip-tie handcuffs, petroleum jelly, a night scope, and a hammer to break windows.  This attack like so many was clearly well planned. Depression Awareness

Depression can sneak up on us especially at this time of year.  We are getting close to holiday season time and the seasons are quickly changing.  Day light savings time is this week and with the falling back of the clock can tend to alter our sleep patterns.  Now is the time to take care of yourself!  If you fall under the category of someone who develops seasonal depression like I do, here are some tips to avoid that slump.

  • Vitamins, Vitamins, Vitamins!  I cannot stress enough how important it is to make sure you are getting enough Vitamin D3. This will help you with those days when out of the blue you begin to feel tired and sluggish.  Generally at this time of the year we don’t get enough sunlight so our natural source of Vitamin D is diminished.
  • Get enough Sleep.  To get a good nights rest your body needs 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep.  If you are not getting enough rest your body doesn’t recover as well and you are more likely to become depressed.
  • Exercise is key.  Try to get yourself in some kind of regular exercise routine.  This will increase your energy levels and keep you in a positive mood.

Whether you suffer from depression or not it is always good to work on the items in the list above.  Your life can only become better and less stressful if you maintain a healthy life style!

McCown proves to be no slouch!

Cleveland finally pulls off a win in Baltimore on Sunday!  Josh McCown drove his team down the field with under 3 minutes left to go on the clock.  McCown got the team in field goal range and set up Travis Coons for a 32 yard field goal which put the Browns in the lead 33-30.  McCown put up some record-setting numbers in the big win against the Ravens.  Josh had a team record-breaking total of 457 yards and two touchdowns.  The Browns have lost 13 of the last 14 matches against Baltimore and hopefully with their win yesterday the times are changing.

Coach of the Browns Mike Pettine said “Sometimes you get wins that define things for you, that become a turning point, and we’re hoping that was this for us”.  This win for the Browns definitely keeps them in a good spot as we go forward with the season.  They stay ahead of Baltimore which will help them down the road.

One of the most incredible plays yesterday was made by tight end Gary Barnidge.  He managed to catch the football between his legs and set the browns up for a 22-21 lead which was the first lead by the Browns during the game.

Time will tell but Josh McCown certainly won some of the hearts of the Cleveland fans on Sunday.  Lets just hope he can keep this momentum up throughout the rest of the season!

Randy Quaid Jailed

Last Friday after trying to cross the border from Canada to the US, Randy Quaid and his wife were arrested.  Quaid and his wife were charged and transferred to two different courts in Vermont.  It appears that Quaid and wife Evi had numerous arrest warrants out for each other and had fled to Canada.  The warrants were from 2010 where the two were charged with felony vandalism when they caused more than $5000 in damages while squatting in a home in Santa Barbara, California.  Randy and his wife failed to appear to several court dates due to this matter and Randy was denied permanent residency in 2012. Evi was however granted citizenship.

The two are currently being held in a Vermont jail and both of their bails have been set at $500,000.  Evi entered a plea of not guilty earlier today however, Quaid has not yet entered his plea.  He will do so in three days when he has to return to court.

This information got me thinking of the movie National Lampoon’s Vacation in which Randy played a character by the name of Cousin Eddie.  Eddie was someone who meant well but was ignorant to put it mild when it came to many issues. Perhaps Quaid was channeling his Lampoons character while he was fleeing the country.  Hopefully this whole mess will get taken care of and Randy can continue to making us laugh.  I can’t imagine never seeing Randy again bringing us more joy with his outstanding character portrayals.  Perhaps a Kingpin 2 could be in the future?

All About Judy

Hey everyone my name is Judy and I want to tell you a little bit about myself.  First thing you need to know is that I love Sci-Fi and Horror movies.  My favorite directors are Joss Whedon and Wes Craven.  The movie Scream started me off on my love for the horror genre.  Ghost Face is an iconic character and Craven brought it to life like no other.  When I first saw that movie cell phones were not something everyone possessed at the time.  Nowadays everyone and there mother has a cell phone!

Another bit of information about myself is that I enjoy shooting video and editing projects together.  I was 17 years old when my mom bought me my first video camera and since then I was hooked.  I loved filming everything from my friends to my dog and even just scenery.  Huntington beach at sunrise or sunset is a beautiful place to shoot video.  I have filmed events that consist of first communions, weddings and a lot of parties.  Filming day to day events and telling a story by doing so is my passion.

My day job consists of providing people with all their sweet comfort foods.  I teach the staff how to make recipes and provide the public with great tasting coffee products and delicious ice cream treats.  I love training a new employee on the value of a customer and how to keep those customers happy and satisfied with your service.

Lastly, I have always had a love of all sports.  My father at a young age was always watching sports and teaching my on the fundamentals of the games.  I played basketball, softball and volleyball in school but I always enjoyed watching a good sporting event.  Growing up with two brothers in my household we were always shooting hoops and playing catch in our spare time.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and getting a little bit more insight on me!

Genius Celebs

There are many celebs out there that you would think as having not too much upstairs if you know what I mean.  However, there is a long list of celebrities who actually have a very high IQ.  There are many examples to list.  The first being Shakira who some of you may think because of her personality would not have a very IQ.  However, she actually has an IQ of 140.  Another celeb who may surprise you is Goldie Hawn.  Goldie has played many ditzy characters in her career but her IQ is surprisingly high.  James Franco is very educated and has many degrees even though he plays characters that tend to spoke a lot of funny cigarettes!  One may also think all supermodels are considered a bit air headed but look at Cindy Crawford.  She has an IQ of 156!  Funny man Steve Martin can’t be called a ‘Jerk’ considering he is labeled a genius for his 142 IQ.

No matter how you slice it up there are many celebrities out there who are extremely intelligent.  So next time you see one of those celebs on TV or film in a role you think portrays them as dumb, look them up.  You just might find it surprising what you find!
